If you paid on a credit card, I would recommend you look into a Section 75 claim.

Several years ago, I bought an S2000 (used car dealer) which developed a major fault within one month - threatened the seller with a section 75 claim and he agreed to pay half the repair cost.
Last year, I bought a laptop from eBay which turned out be security locked - didn’t notice until the eBay protection period had expired. I made a claim with my credit card company and they refunded me!
