Mystery Light behind dials..

Hi i have been recently fitting some new dials to my car and i have discoverd a mystery light above my fuel guage that i am not sure what it does. Its all wired in and comes as standard on my car (97 UK model) … Although no one seems to know what its for. It lights up for a fraction of a second when i turn the key but never long enough to see what the symbol is meant to be…

 Anybody know?

Square orange light? Sounds like the Heated Rear Window tell tail to me. Not sure why it flashes though…

Your link’s not working by the way.

No its not the heated rear window… that is part of the cluster of lights in the middle of the dashboard. (which works correctly when my hardtop is fitted)This is somthing else…

Can you get the photo link to work?

Are you absolutely sure about those lights?  The light above the fuel gauge in Mk.1’s is the rear window demister telltale.  The cluster in the middle of the dash vary depending on the particular model.  In my Roadster they’re charge, handbrake, seatbelts and catalyst overheat.  I believe in UK cars that heat light is replaced by a foglight telltale, and in Miatas it’s a check engine light.

I’ll double check then… but im pretty sure the rear de-mister is on the middle cluster next to the Fog light.

Its amazing what strange things you find in and behind dashboards

yep get that photo attached  better so we can see… try using Photobucket as  an image  collection

Yeah…we need pics
