Naming cars has been a family tradition since Mum and Dad acquired their first car an Austin A40 Countryman MkII in 1964. I have given names to all my keepers, Madge was named by the girl friend who bought her for me, the name did not sound too serious or pretentious and so it stuck.
My Mazda has the family number plate - on my late husband’s first car in the 60s.
The plate has been on so many cars - including the works van before the Mazda.
So it went on the ND - his bequest.
Last 3 letters make the car’s name!
My Mk1 is called “Una the Eunos” and my Mk3.5 PRHT is called "Tanya the Tin Top "
Anastasia because she’s a Grey and loves a good…

MX-5’s deserve a name.

I remember Sebastian Vettel saying on Top Gear that his racing car that year was called “Kinky Kylie”, because “she has a nice behind”.
My mk3.75 is called Nugget, a reference to his Copper Red paint.
Yes, he is a boy, because girls drive me crazy, and he drives me everywhere else.
I’m not generally into naming cars, but a previous black mk2 mx5 I bought was ruefully named EARWIG by my wife, because after several small sports cars over many years I’d promised not to get another, but I did. EARWIG stands for ear wig o again.
Mines Called the Mongrel as its an imported car which had never been UK registered till I got it. It has the interior from a different spec Eunos, as well as componants from newer MX5s Its 1994 to 2005
My crystal blue NB is called Graham after Graham Norton, because he’s a bit camp but still manages to be tasteful. My Eunos was Adrian due to the reg number. I always name my cars male, well all the old ones anyway. I did have an NC for nine months, but I didn’t bond with that one, so it remained nameless until I sold it. I think when a car has such character it deserves a name. My husband doesn’t name his cars though, which is no fun at all.
Mine is gender fluid so " They, Them, Zzzz, " , you get the drift.
In our house you’re either taking the Orange car or the Red car. One’s manual the other auto. The Wife will only drive the manual 30AE.
Ours is Malcolm - Named because it’s our Mid Life Crisis or MLC.
My NB was named ‘The Precious’ by my daughter shortly after I bought it. You have to say it in a Gollum voice (from ‘The Lord Of The Rings’).
‘Maz’
Same!
Gary. No idea why, my youngest daughter just called it that the day I bought it and it stuck.
it’s called Froggy by my partner why,… not sure she says she will tell me on the 18 June when we tie the knot…well I made it 22 years on the run …
She’ll just say ‘I toad you I like it’
Sorry everyone - couldn’t resist ‘hopping in’ here
Molly. All my wifes idea!
My MX5 is called Zippy, partly from the reg plate and partly because, well, he is.
A few decades ago I had a bright yellow Opel Manta GTJ called Custard the Whistling Dragon for reasons too complex to go into here
Let me guess. Turbo’d Redtop or Monza-Senator 3ltr mill?
