There is not a clear answer at this time, there are many variables.
However, Mazda are taking a very large presence at the show and the first pre-production promotional RFs are expected in to the country soon. It is not clear yet if all will align.
But never say never Mazda do not intentionally want to miss the opportunity to put the RF in front of an expected 4,000+ MX-5 fans.
Vicky Butler Henderson - free to be an audience member (places limited).
Roadster Robbie sessions free to participate, get him while he’s hot.
Stunt shows free to spectate - there are planned 4 different shows on over the day, just get along to the Arena to spectate.
Live DJ will have competitions free to participate.
There will be more I have missed out and we are trying to eek out the pennies for a couple more activities for members to have a go at as before, but will be if there is anything left in the tank.
Alongside the rally you can go visit the Grand Prix Museum for half price with your membership card over the weekend.
I agree with Saz on this - £12 represents more than one of the items I was thinking of selling. Make it up on the others? - unlikely. Back to the for sale lists.
Saz, we know people want to sell on 2nd hand bits, but we can’t staff an Autojumble, we’ve tried and it has not worked. This is an option/ trial and if this does work then maybe we stick with it, but we won’t know unless we try.
If you have a lot of stuff to sell then this is probably a very good option to reach lots of MX-5 owners and buyers. The principle is akin to the trusty car boot sale and this style of Autojumble has been observed and investigated at other motoring events - some where the audience was not marque specific and others where the pitches were almost double the cost (£20) and something like 40 assorted vehicles were selling.
There are many ways to look at the cost to hold this, but outrageous it is not, the question to then ask is how much is the Club meant to absorb for you? The hire of the place that has a cost and we need an official bit of paper to have folk selling on site, which is obtained with cost too and theres a bit of admin and postage to get passes etc - all incremental but it all starts to knock on, every SqM on the showground carries that. All the trader pitches for the event carry a cost to the exhibitors, some considerable where they have large pitches. The benefit of the Autojumble pitches are also near this trade section and where people will be milling about as well as accessible place that you will be able to leave from and return to the car park or head home when you are finished selling.
I agree, if you have only a couple of things that fit in an MX-5 boot then this is probably not the way, and it’s partly geared this way too - loads and loads of MX-5s with one or two pieces each and coming and going would be an organisational headache at this event - but if you have lots of things in your garage or club together with a few other owners, perhaps an estate car to sell from with a table then this is probably the best way to reach a great number of MX-5 people while also reverting the preparation and delivery to people selling their own items rather than pushing this on a local team of volunteers.
Spaces have already been taken and we’ll look at the evaluation it afterwards, if they go forward then each auto jumble would be venue specific. If anyone is interested in taking an Autojumble pitch the information can be found
On another note that should hopefully appeal to your pocket, we have now removed all the costs for the Saturday Night entertainment, making the shindig Free for members to attend.
I purchased my membership yesterday (18th September) after going to my first MX5 meet, unknowingly ending up at a huge Classic Car Show which made for an incredible day!
I would absolutely love to join you all at this rally this year but am I too late? Am I still able to participate? I know the main page said sign-ups had to be done before the 16th which makes me 2 days late
Your forum post indicates you are a Club member, (as of 28/08/2016) so your membership card will be in the post in the near future, so no problem. You’ve got two weeks anyway, so postal delays shouldn’t affect delivery of that.
The Rally is open to all members to come along to, you should get your Club Magazine in the next couple of days with all the information about how to get there and whats on.
OK, I’m just going to put it out there… I’m turning up in my Seat Toledo diesel, as I returned my MX-5 (long story) a few weeks back and am coming in the hope of finding an Arctic special edition to buy. I’ll wear a paper bag upon entry and park far away from the 5’s.
Apologies if this information is already out there and I’ve missed it, but if I want to get my car into the trader’s area, i.e. to the service bays to have work carried out, how would I go about this please?
