My NC just failed MOT, rear inner sill is completely eaten away. I’ve attached a photo. Just to make it slightly more clear what you’re looking at, the part bolted in at the top left is the rear subframe brace bar.
I’m considering repairing this myself. I found a pre-fabricated repair panel for the section: Mazda MX5 Mk3 NC Rear Inner Sill Panel / Jacking Point | eBay UK
I figured if I want to keep the car, I will continue to face rust issues, so the more economical decision would be to learn how to repair corrosion myself.
I have never welded before, am I in over my head? I’d be working on a driveway. Any thoughts or advice? Should I just pay the garage to patch it up instead of buying a bunch of equipment, drive the car for the summer then try to sell it on instead?
