NC ECU removal help

I am currently working my way through removing stuff from a 2006 NC and I have got to the ECU and can’t figure out how to remove it…

Watching a video on youtube there is a top and bottom plate, but in the video they separate, mine seems to be different with a rivet in it, holding casing around the ECU and thus stopping from ejecting the 2 connections or moving the ECU out of the holder to then eject the connectors

The nuts then seem to either be part of the bottom case or have been welded on (though it looks machined so I’m guessing apart of the base?)

Anyone got some instructions? Did they change the housing Inna later revision?

They are shear bolts, required to keep Thatcham happy. You have to drill them out of cut a slot in the top of them a try and use a screwdriver to get them out. No easy way really, that being the point of them.

Haha, the mx5 bits back again (firs issue was the 3 screws at the back of the dash!), well the CX-7 I got the donor engine and ECU from never had this issue and they where made at the same time, kind of why I was stumped with this.

Thanks for the info though, something has to break now
