Depends on mileage, without doubt if you can afford it go with brand new, I did eventually. Just took me another 4 years to get there

It was an advisory I found on the most recent MOT test as I was buying it. So to answer your question, I replaced them within 3 months of owning it. I wanted it sorted before it’s next test.

Whilst on the subject of NC suspension I’M just about to fit a set of Meister R zeta CRD coilovers. But as my car is still on the original end links I’m going to replace these.
Does anyone have any advice on changing these, do I go genuine oem, copy ones or adjustable (get the impression that unless your a racer it’s not worth the hassle of adjustables?)

I fitted IL Motorsports (non adjustable) to mine and they seem good quality.

You can fit the generic mx5 parts ones and should have no issues. I fitted them to mine lowered on coilovers with uprated arbs. A pal tracks his on meister r coilovers and the end links seperated from the ball joints but that’s pushing them hard. Soak them in wd40 well before attempting to remove them and have a hacksaw to hand in case they won’t come off. If they don’t come apart from the rear arb it’s probably easier to remove the whole thing and cut the nuts off :+1:

do the coilovers first and drive it don’t change to much at the same time because if something doesn’t suite you will have a job finding out what
I run Ohlins coilovers and recently changed the arbs to IL Motorsports and the front one is coming off because its upset the way the car turns in probably the back one too

Dan, how about a spokesman from Adrian Flux replying to this thread. Its been around for a while but you seem to be missing the chance to defend your corner.

(but won’t hold my breath)

Thanks for the advice, just what I was thinking of. Didn’t want to fit the coilovers and new ARB s as a lot of folks seem to think just fitting the coilovers will be brilliant. But as I’m thinking of replacing the drop end links this is not a mod just some good housekeeping as I’m sure there’ll be the 12 Yr old originals so thought it would make sense to do whilst the suspension is being worked on

I believe that as a 2011 model you won’t have the high “Tractor” style high suspension, the ride height on my 2010 year model is lower as standard and ok for all conditions. I fitted Bilstein B6shocks as I do to all my cars and the ride, handling and body control are all massively improved. Obviously a geometry check by a reliable garage such as Roddisons is essential. If you’re not near a specialist Flyin’ Miata have fast road geometry settings on their website. If you are looking for a really low look the above wont be any use but personally I always go for usability especially with the state of UK roads
