I think so too. I’ll get one ordered and wait for some bad weather to fit it! Don’t imagine I’ll have to wait too long. Good time for a coolant change too.
Reading about it some folk find it very difficult, is it really that bad?
Oh and which type long or short? 2006 2.0? Any brand better than others?

Job done, new stat fitted. Not driven it yet but idling in the garage temp is showing at around 86 degrees. Will take it for a spin with the rain and gales die down!
That was quick, did fit the Mahle stat from Opie?
And did you burp the system?
Bought form euro car parts. Same Mahle stat just a bit more expensive at £15. Checked part numbers. Only bought because it’s local and they had one in stock. Burped too.
Found it much easier with the air cleaner box out of the way. Added maybe 10 mins but better access.
Also gave the throttle body a good clean and fresh antifreeze.
