NC Rear suspension help

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC
  2. I’m based near: Rochester, Kent.
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: rear suspension arms

Hello. I’ve recently purchased a 2006 NC that needs new rear suspension bushes as the current ones are split - almost all of them (no idea how it passed an MOT a few months ago!)

I’m investigating options for changing all the arms (10!!) or changing just the bushes. Is it worth just changing the bushes?

Also, any suggestions on suppliers for the arms? I’ve looked on MX5 Parts but if need all 10 arms, it could get expensive very quickly!

Thanks
Luke

I hear, on t’internet, there’s a common belief that just changing the bushes of the arms is a complete bar steward of a job (even fully tooled up). Not impossible but a very testing operation featuring blow torches, hammers, hack saws, grinders and a barrel of sweat.

I’m sure others will chime in soon :crossed_fingers:

Yes, changing the bushes is a pretty specialist job and time consuming too. I bought a complete set of SuprPro bushes (there were a lot!) and they cost around £1k to buy and about the same again to have fitted.

But if you do go aftermarket and/or have any idea of using the car on track then uperPro bushes really are the ones to have.

probably best the change the arms!
because now that the bushes have split.
the rubber around the ball joints isn’t going to be far behind

Thanks, I took another look at the arms today and agree, they need replacing.

So, apart from MX5Parts, where else sell the arms? Replacing all 10 in one go isn’t going to be cheap!!!
