NC - waive the wave now?

I’m a NC driver and always give any other NA NB & fellow NC a waive no matter what. I’m only cautious of ND drivers as I find not all are enthusiastic about being part of the scene.

I’m a recent arrival to the MX5. I only started driving one earlier this year.

So I am currently a bit of a noob with my waving. My target acquisition system has only the most basic firmware, and I currently find myself waving indiscriminately at Triumph Spitfires, Toyota MR2s and BMW Z4 Roadsters.

Happy to say though, that even on my first outing the generic pattern recognition system was able consistently to reject those Mercedes things. I don’t even know the name of them.

Obviously as time goes on I’m going to customize the rig and iron out the glitches. I’ve already tuned out the 1962 AC Cobra Mark III.

Ambition is to eliminate RF hard-tops within a year or so :wink:.

Please don’t be like that. They’re ALL MX-5s. I’ve an ND and always wave. There’s an NC on my street that’s never waved since I first clapped eyes on it 4 years ago. Go figure

As an NC driver I wave to any MX5, as I have in VW type ones and on motorcycles. I have enjoyed the comaradery of the enthusiasts wave from a very early age and I shall continue.

There are about 100k mx5’s registered on road in the Uk, and about 7k mx5 owners club members. Making an assumption that only mx5 club members are inclined to consider waving, then the chances of getting a response from another passing mx5 is about 1 in every 15. On that basis it is not too surprising not to get a response.

Down to the individual i wave at all mx5 usually its the people who just bought car as a car and not a enthusiast but keep waving :wave:t2: they will get the message :+1::+1:

I’m in an ND, best version, and I wave to all versions . Even NCs :slight_smile:

I feel bad when I miss another mx5er waving at me and I’m too late to reciprocate.

Me too. If roof is down I tend to waggle my arm crazily in the air hoping they catch a glimpse in their mirror. :person_raising_hand:

ND owner here and I wave to all MX5s (and MR2’s too as a past owner)

I’d say I get a wave back about 40% of the time - I’m happy with that
