NC1 Spark plugs

Hi all,

I’m looking to change the spark plugs on my 1.8 NC1. This will be a first for me as I’ve usually left this sort of stuff to my garage. Please forgive the amateur questions.

It’s currently on 84K and AFAIK they’ve never been changed so I figure it’s due.

Can anyone tell me what size socket I’ll need and possibly link to a decent quality one?
Also are these NGK’s from MX5parts` pre-gapped?

Any thing else I should know before I whip out the Haynes manual and tools?

There is a guide in the Downloads section of the club’s website in the Routine Servicing section, this should answer all of your questions.

They should be pregapped, but it’s something I always check. I found two of the set I bought needed correcting.
Just be careful not to overtighten the new plugs. They are taper seat type and the recommended torque is very low. From memory it’s in the order of 15 Nm.
