ND - Book time for Camshaft swap

2016 2.0 ND

I’ve just been quoted £1200 (£1440 with VAT) for camshaft install. (the BBR set, so with retainers and springs changed too). this is from a company working on the MX5s day after day too, so would expect them to be swift at the job.

does anyone know the book time on this? as, i think this is a heavy price / or long time. if i guess at an £80/hour labour rates thats still 15 hours of work.

cheers

This one?

so the figure you quote is on top of the price of the kit?

Unless you’re specifically wedded to BBR you could give Paul Roddison a call and see if you can achieve similar results from a different source.

yea thats the cams. but i was after install time. such as an official manual or similar. i could try another mechanic when they open next week, but was wondering if theres an online source i can access?

actually i did speak to Paul recently about some work and ideas i had. but, he didnt seem interested tbh. was good to talk to, but didnt come back ith any quotes or options.

so, ‘stuck’, or ‘sticking’ with BBR for the cams.

edit - think i misread/mis answered part of that:
ive been quoted £2295 (+vat) for supply and fit of the BBR cams. hence how ive come to the labour figure.

I doubt it, maybe someone who’s had it done will chip in with their experience.

Does it also involve remapping, yet again?
