Hi [:D] well, im lew, i drive a red 2002 Seat Arosa 1.0 atm which i love to bits but am getting tired of being beaten by micras etc, so its time for an upgrade when my insurance runs out in April and have my heart set on a 1.8 MX-5
Ive done a lot of looking and im pretty sure i want a red mk2.5, but im getting more drawn to the mk1’s too the more i look at them. Just something so cool about them [*-)]. Gonna have about 5000 to spend.
So yeah, ill be trying to test drive as many as i can before april until i find my perfect five and hopefully will have mx5oc to help
Thanks found a lovely red 51 plate mk2.5 1.8 with 58000 miles for £4295… exactly what i want, very tempting… its like 100 miles away but im going down that way next week for a holiday so maybe ill be bringing a nice new car home
I do have a question tho… which models of MX5 have the LSD? Ive seen somewhere that it was every 1.8 from 1998 to 2002 or something but i doubt that.
Don’t be put off owning a 1.6 Mk1 if you see one you like, they are brilliant. To think of it there is a good looking one for sale somewhere on the forum too.
I’m new too, just joined today! I also had an arosa and upgraded to an S Reg, red, mk 2 a couple of years ago and I love it!
My neighbour (Trowbridge, Wilts) has an Nreg maroon mk1 eunos for sale, done about 52,000 miles, don’t know what he’s asking for it but I’ll try to get a picture to upload if you like.

As for the eunos, im not sure if i could live with the colour but i might still be kinda interested if what he’s asking sounds good. Theres loads of them on autotrader too.
Can anyone tell me what kind of hood that is? I dont actually know but it looks lovely, great condition too. Only thing i don’t like is the wheels… and its DEFINITELY sitting too high… but i’ve got big plans anyway :}

Do many people do staggered widths on their mx5’s? I’m thinking 17x7 on the front and 17x7.5 on the back. I know the ride will be harsher with 17s but, i like that.
Strange isn’t it? My mk1 Eunos has a set of 14" aftermarket alloys and the dealer had no idea where the originals had gone.
I saw a set of matt black deep dish 15" alloys with Yoko’s in Halfords today for £279.99. My mastercard started to shout at me (resist, resist!). Once my tyres need replacing I will change the wheels.
According to this 2001 spec summary <http://www.fizzindi.demon.co.uk/2001spec.htm>, the Torsen LSD was fitted only on the auto and sport versions. Yours is definitely a mk2.5, it has the separate main and dip headlights, but it’s not a sport, it doesn’t have the front foglamps.
Those are definately MK1 Eunos wheels. I Just sold my original ones with almost new tyres for £75 set so don`t expect to get much back when selling yours.
My guess is the previous owner kept the wheels for his new car & fitted the cheapest set he could find when trading the car in.
Plenty of nice wheels to choose from once you have decided what floats your boat.
