I have mazda mx5 1.6 mk2 1366660 miles I’m hoping if I look after it and service it every 2k will my engine keep working stupid question but I’m new to mx5

A service every 2000 miles??? Still, you have a car with 1.3 million miles on it, so will it keep working, mmm.
I hope you meant you have a car with 136k miles on it, and will it be reliable if you maintain it correctly, with appropriate belt changes etc.
Yes; if you are meticulous on the maintenance (no need to over service), these B6 motors have been known to get to 400k miles without major issue. But things do wear out, eg. plastic topped radiator.

MX5 is just like any other car really. Check the manual for service schedules and what needs doing when.
