New MX5 colour range?

Does anybody know if Mazda are planning to offer any new colours on the MX5?  The current colour options seem to have been with us since the introduction of the Mk3 and must be the least imaginative set of colours ever produced.  They have some great colours on some of their other cars.  The Mazda 2 for example can be bought in a deep yellow-gold colour and I feel sure the MX5 would look fabulous in this colour, as previous versions of the car always looked fabulous in yellow.  They also do a nice metallic blue, a bit like Winning Blue, that would also look good.

There has been a few new colour on the MK3 hasn’t there ?  That really nice dark green is quite new and there has been white on the wotsit special edition…

I reckon there’ll be a white when the facelift is released. White seems to be making a comeback as people have forgotten how bad they look after a couple of years of use.

Marble white is an option on the facelift

Not all white cars do that, here’s Shiney Steves '92/93 Roadster [he loves seeing pics of his car!]

Takes a lot of work to keep a white car looking like that though. Looks stunning all the same.[:)]

Has your car still not arrived yet, Weirdfish?

 Picking it up Saturday [:D]

OK, apparently I’m not picking it Saturday as it aint at the dealer yet! Glad they told me it was already there yesterday. [:(]

Since my original post, I’ve discovered that Mazda do have plans to offer the face-lifted Mk3 in “vivid yellow” along with a range of other new colours.  I’m not so sure about the styling tweaks, but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing some new colours around.

I understood that vivid yellow was only for Japan/US market at launch, not Europe?

I didn’t realise that.  I just assumed we’d get the same colours.

I’ve just been looking at the spec of the forthcoming facelifted version of the MX5.  Some of them look worth having, but I’m a little disappointed that they’ve largely stuck with the same colour options that have been around for ages.  There are 3 new colours, one of which is yellow and the others are two more shades of grey!  I mean, how many more shades can there be?  I think Mazda have really missed an opportunity here to add some stylish colours to a very stylish car.
