As of today I still donât have my car tax refund from the Mazda dealer. The reason I say from the dealer and not DVLA is because they never sent the V5 off to DVLA for the car I owned for 10 days before they crashed it and I rejected it. Therefore, DVLA donât know I ever had the car. (if that makes sense).
More delays from the dealer as to why they arenât giving me my money back, Its still showing as taxed as of now, and the last deadline (they set, I didnât ask) was Monday (yesterday) to give me the refund. They know what the value to refund is, not sure why they donât just give me the money and wait for the payment back from DVLA?
Will be calling again tomorrow for what its worth, I have pretty much given up. lol.
Mazda dealer is Westdrive Mazda Braintree.
Car is FT21 OHD, just in case someone is looking at that car.

Have you considered going in there, and having a heated, loud row when lots of customers are there? Puts you on the spot, but if youâre 100% in the right (not saying you arenât of course!), Iâd expect youâll get an outcome asap, instead of doing the conventional route. Might mean you will have to get it serviced elsewhere, if the place is local, but they hardly sound the place I@d want to go anyway. A pity it has be like that, but Itâll sure get better results than nicey nicey phone calls and letters in situations when it seems like youâre being ignored/a subject of general disinterest.

@ND12 Its not my sort of thing to shout loudly at people, and the Dealer is an hour away. I have had enough trips, to view/buy/return car/return key before they would give me refund/ returned to collect personal possessions. They definitely wonât be my service dealer!. Even if they were the last dealer in the UK I would be using Fred in a Shed. ![]()

Still not got my car tax back.
Tried Mazda UK, who informed me after speaking to the dealer, âthey (dealer) confirmed that this refund will need to come from the DVLA as this is who the tax was paid to and would not look to refund this money on their behalf. Please liase with DVLA going forward.â
I informed them I didnât have anything to go to DVLA with as the dealer never sent off the V5 so I was never the owner.
I then spoke to the DVLA who said they would try to investigate on my behalf what the dealer was doing.
I then get an email from Mazda UK the following day contradicting the previous email. That Westdrive Mazda have notified DVLA (probably only because they sold the car as its no longer on there site and the new owner will need to tax it) and that they are waiting for the refund to issued before refunding me.
Then Westdrive Sales Manager emails to say he âbelieves the issue has now been âresolvedâ and I should see the Tax refund less one month ÂŁ178.75 in my account by Friday.
Its now Monday still no tax refundâŚ
Glad you got there in the end. I can also vouch for Paul ( Prestige vehicle consultants ) after picking up my RF from him last April.
Yes PVC and the entire process with Paul was smooth and problem free, and more than happy with the car from him.
But Westdrive are a nightmare TBH,
On the subject of main dealers, i usually avoid them like the plague! However, i can highly recommend TW White and sons in Leatherhead Surrey.
I bought my RF from them a couple of years ago, and from start to finish the whole thing was totally seamless. Christian and his team were extremely patient with me, (i had a lot of questions) we spent hours there and probably emptied the coffee machine. ![]()
