Hello. I posted recently in the “Buyer’s Guide” forum about hard tops and mileage. I took a couple days off work this week to look at a few MX5s but to my great dismay (and stress!) the three local ones that I had my eye on had all been sold - but the dealers left the details on ebay and autotrader, GRR!
On Tuesday night I came across an advert for a '99 1.8, in my area, for just £2,500. I assumed it would have gone (the advert was a few weeks old) but fired off an email anyway. Yesterday I got a reply and discovered that it was still available. I’m now the owner of a 1999 Racing Bronze 1.8, only 51,000 miles, brand new alloys (in a sensible size) and tyres, FSH (all but one stamp is from Mazda garages). All for £2,500. I’m pretty pleased with that
The only downside to it is that there is a bit of rust on the boot lid (one bubble on the outside, a few scabby bits inside along the edge). No rust at all on the arches though. And there’s a bit of a dent on the front driver’s side wing (trolley accident in a supermarket) which I can hopefully get pushed out.
Now, who wants to sell me a hardtop?
