    Join the Norfolk Five’s as we plan our weekend away for the MX-5 OC Spring Day at the Brooklands motor circuit, if you are already a MX-5 OC member you can still claim a free limited entry ticket to the Spring Day at Brooklands, if you aren’t already a member now is the time to join up and save on entry into the show. Closing date for tickets subject to availability is the 30th April.

    Brooklands motor circuit is the original home of British motor racing, opened in 1907 and was the world’s first banked motor racing circuit. Now you have the chance to visit this amazing track and experience how steep it really is. There will be plenty on offer to see during the day from over 1000 MX-5’s in attendance, to the historic workshops and museum on the site, there is also a display with concorde and various other historic aircraft. There will even be a chance to take your Five up the famous hill climb if you wish for an additional ticket.

    Norfolk Five’s plans:

    Myself and Katie have planned to travel down on the Sunday morning. This allows members who wish to join us just for the day to join in with the convoy and attend the Spring Day together. For those who wish we will then stay the night at the Brooklands Hotel and Spa. On the Monday we have planned to visit Mercedes Benz world museum which has some unbelievable cars to view, everything from prototype, concept cars to factory fresh classics and even formula one cars. There is also the chance to do experiences at extra charges. Entry is free. We visited here many years ago and we were all blown away with what was on offer. We will then depart from Mercedes Benze world where members can either join us for a convoy home or head on to other destinations. This will be a relaxing and leisurely weekend for everyone.

    We will be meeting at Sainsbury’s Thetford forest retail park IP24 3QL this will be a early start. Please arrive from 7.00 to leave at 7.15am, we will then take a direct drive straight to Brooklands where we will aim to arrive for for 9.30 as the show then opens.

    If you have already made plans to travel down Saturday or have booked any other accommodation do not worry. There will be opportunities to meet us at Brooklands and/or Mercedes world if you wish.

    The Hotel.

    We will be staying at the Booklands hotel and spa Brooklands Drive, Weybridge KT13 0SL.
    If you book direct with the hotel you will get the best rate, rooms start at £134.64
    This will also include parking and the chance to upgrade to a track view room at no extra cost, you can add breakfast at the rate of £15.00 per person, and you can also add the use of the spa. This hotel is situated within walking distance of Mercedes Benz world.
    We would recommend booking directly via the hotel as using a 3rd party booking site may incur a parking charge of £14 a day. Please see link below to hotel booking.

Hi Chris - we are going down on the Saturday. Hope to see you at Brooklands. Not sure about Monday - may spend more time looking in the museum. There is so much there. I went there back in 2011 - it was a 60th Birthday present to ‘fly’ the Concorde Flight Simulator. Somewhere I have a photo of me lined up to land at Heathrow - I think 27L. There is also a video of me trying to land at the old Tai Kak airport in Hong Kong. Great fun! Paul & Linda

I’d like to join in too please Chris. Driving down Sunday morning. I’ll meet up with you either near Snett or in Thetford if that’s easier. I’m booked into Brooklands.

Hi Chris,

We will join the convoy on Sunday morning at the services on the A14 just after Junction 37 (Starbucks, CB8 0XG) as you pass that point - if that’s OK.

So far it’s two cars, but I will let you know if any more want to join:
