Perceptive again Ziggydad
Yep… the saying used to be: ‘A little knowledge is a dangerous thing’
My experience with the benefit of hindsight is the opposite: ‘A lot of knowledge is also a dangerous thing’
Then I understood what my late Dad meant by ‘Ignorance is Bliss’
As for maladaptive coping strategies…Wot Me … of course I’ve never done those

Oh man this escalated quickly…
I see your point, but we don’t all want the same experience.
For example, as much as people tell me mid engined cars are the epitome of performance cars and what a real car enthusiast should aim to own, I really don’t agree. I’ve driven several mid engined cars, and while entertaining certainly not something I want. I prefer the balance of a front engined, rear wheel drive chassis - just preferences I suppose.
Now onto the Caterham claim - yes, oh boy yes, I do love a Caterham! But cost really becomes an issue here for me… I really really toyed with the idea of dailying a Caterham, but while doable certainly not something I would like to do as a long term solution. Meaning, another car would have to be part of the fleet and thats where I draw the line personally in terms of cost.
I do agree! The few experiences Ive had driving cars without servo brakes were very positive, and I find non servo brakes to be more natural somehow, you probably get what I mean if you’ve driven them before.
EPAS wise, I’m still on the fence on this… I know its not a popular opinion, but I am of the thinking that a well sorted EPAS is just as good as any other steering method. I feel that for me it is much more about what I can feel through the seat
Sounds like we are probably on very different parts of the driving spectrum when it comes to what we want from a driving experience - for example my ‘dream’ Caterham would be a base model 660cc and all its mighty 84 horses and thats a long way from 450 bhp/tonne
My point being - it’s all dependant on what makes each of us happy
