Not sure what I need to get checked...

Hiya,

I had a bit of a scary moment yesterday morning where I was driving over a bridge with my MK1 and the car started skidding.  Managed to control it, though I hit the side of the road fairly hard.  There is no obvious damage, though I’m concerned that the bump (similar to going over humps too quickly) may have done something to the suspension and wheel alignment.  I did notice over the last few months that the car is oversteering with some roll.   Question is what should I get checked? I’m a bit confused about the difference between checking suspension, geometry and wheel alignment.  I have recently put two new rear tyres so I know they should be ok.  Just concerend as its my only car to work eveyday and the drive can be dodgy along small country roads that isn’t gritted!

WIM is fairly close to me (I live near Thame in Bucks) but I wan’t to make sure I get the right work done!

 Thanks all : )

Give WIM a call, they are highly recommended and I am sure Tony will advise what should be looked at, be sure and mention you are an owners club member too.

Even if you have done no damage (which I am sure he would confirm before performing any alignment) the £100 quid or so for a full alignment may be the best Christmas present you can make to yourself - ask for the Fast Road Set-up, it’s the bees knees!

Hi Anna, have a look in the tech FAQ, there are 4 articles in there written by the WIM guy, all your questions will be answered

Don’t do that bit until you have actually joined though [;)]
