I know I said it was the last post from moi, but just an addendum with some new info…I have fitted my motorbike font front plate to my MX5 this week and and was parked up after a run out yesterday and a traffic cop came down the sea front and parked up near me so, swallowing very deeply, I asked him where he stood on my number plate. He came over and had a look and told me as long as it was on an imported car registered BEFORE 1994 and not in an exotic font or mis-spaced to spell something else then as far as he was aware it was legal in his book and he and his fellow cop in the car said they wouldn’t fine anyone who was following the afore mentioned conditions. However, he did say that some other traffic cops may see it differently and issue a fine just because it looks different but if you were to pursue it in court the fine would not stand up if you proved you have followed the conditions mentioned.
Just to mention again as someone mentioned ANPR cameras and number plates, he stated that the ANPR camera on his vehicle WOULD be able to read the smaller plate as how do they read the rear plates on motorbikes if this wasn’t the case. Also he said most fonts can be read by the ANPR camera unless they were really exotic by which it would be hard for the traffic cops to read themselves.
Right or wrong that was from ‘the horses mouth’ so to speak, make of it what you will folks and remember…“Lets be careful out there” ;-D
PS…cheers for peeing me off Geoff…‘32 deg out there so off for a drive’…evil man, its -2 deg here, blowing a hoolie and snowing!!!
