Went for a short blast this afternoon, its like the coldest day ever here, so had roof up and heater on… and, blow me, a red MK1 comes along in opposite direction, with two occupants, woolie hats on and roof down… then a mile down the road, silver MK1 at petrol station filling up, and his roof was down as well (and he defo spotted me)… So just in case either of you folks in Ipswich this Saturday afternoon did spot me in the stripey white roadster, THE WIFE MADE ME DO IT…!!!
It was the opposite for me yesterday. There was taking my 8 year old granddaughter to her dancing classes - top down, heater on (well, it was chilly once the sun went behind the clouds) and in Witham I saw a red MK3 and 2 silver Mk2’s all with tops up.
As for being a wimp Martin, even I have to put the top up when Bren INSISTS!!!
I drove alone in my red NA yesterday from Sudbury to Ipswich . Had the top down for 3 miles before advancing hypothermia forced me to stop and put the hood back up. I work outside in all weathers 5 days a week. Some weekends you just don’t warm up. Must get that wind-deflector!!
Having vowed to get the top down whenever the sun shines, I hit a problem this afternoon when it was sunny and snowing at the same time. Fortunately over the last year I’ve ploughed so much leather restorer into the seats that the car didn’t suffer. Couldn’t say the same for my nose though with an icicle hanging off it!
I can honestly say that the winter in UK is one of many things that I do not miss!!!—
A couple of pics, the first one is taken in my study
The second was sent by a mate from South Australia, where it’s been a bit warm recently. The little guy came into the house to get out of the heat, and found the waterbucket in the laundry room
