Oil Filter location 1.6 1991 Eunos

Hello All

This weekend I am going to change the oil on the '5.I have read that some people have had issues with the location of the oil filter. If anyone has a photo of where it is and advice on its removal I would be very gratefull. I intend to use Mobil 1 fully synthetic, would I be right thinking that this is ok? If I leave the car for more than 2 days without use I get HLA clatter on start up, this can last for up to a mile before it stops, will Mobil 1 exaserbate this?

Thanks.

Hi Gary

There is a good write up here

I approach the filter from above and behind the alternator, through the small gap below the throttle body. If you shine a torch down there you will see it ok. Remember to turn anticklockwise, loads of people get confused when they have there hands stuffed down there. The filter should be no more than hand tight, a pair of marigolds sometimes helps to get a grip. Mobil 1 is my oil of choice, I haven’t heard the HLAs since changing over to it

Good luck—

So Geoff has been told of course! [:D]

Thanks again Geoff for your advice.

So long as you can get your arm under the inlet manifold to place the thing onto the filter it makes removal very simple.

I use a very long 3/8" extension bar (one of the foot-long ones) with a universal joint at the filter end so you can angle the bar up slightly and therefore use the ratchet above the front wing.
