Did it enter you mind for maybe 0.1 seconds that I might, just might have another car which I drive year round, and/given the thread had digressed somewhat to include stories and other cars in general…
So the answer still remains ‘summers’.
Sorry.

I use my van for everything else.
What van do you drive? Do you use all seasons on that?
i run summers in summer. winters (snow) in winter.
MX-5. i live 4 hours north of edinburgh
this year - waste of bloody time. had 3 days of snow. been rain, rain rain. and 5-9 deg all winter.
winter tyres dont have the rain channels either, so performs like ■■■■ in the wet!
next year , all season! (for winter)
I have a Citroen Berlingo with Avon ZT7 tyres. They are around £65 fitted and balanced and i bought them because they get reasonably good reviews.
In 1980 I had an MG 1300 MK2! I remember well having to drill holes at the end of the splits in the footwell metal to stress relieve them before welding them up! Remolds had gone up a few pounds by then too! ![]()
Incidentally I recall the tyre size was 145 70 12, which is what goes on trailers these days. (Middle)
Pretty sure my Capri 2.8i got by with 205 x 13!
I do consider our Swift Hybrid over shod with 195/45 R17.
But…..it grips like Gorilla glue on dry days,
Showroom appeals I guess,
Bigger tyres improve rolling resistance and can carry more weight, which all cars need these days.
Already a rare rust free survivor!
Normally the whole vertical section across the rear footwell had rotted through below the back seat in five to six years because of salt trapped between that wall (often unpainted) and the rear subframe.
In 1973 I rejected five 1100s before coming to my senses and buying and modding the dear old Bitsa; or as my Dad called it “The tyre muncher” because of its propensity for wheel spin and drifting through roundabouts.
I never realised it was drifting until a couple of mates following me pointed it out when we arrived at the pub. I’d always driven like that…
