Until a month ago, I had a rather spiffing VR-Ltd Combination B. The relationship ended when a taxi smashed into the back of me, as I was stationary in the road waiting to make a right turn. He then drove off, which was nice of him; I could have been dying in there for all he knew. Happily he got stuck in traffic not far away and I was able to get his registration number, so the police eventually tracked him down. I spent 4 hours in A&E, then a fortnight loaded up on codeine (yuk) just lying around my house, not really able to do much else. The car was a write-off. I was in a lot of pain, and upset at the loss of my beloved ride, although it’s just a hunk of metal when all’s said and done. But I was worried about what sort of settlement I would be offered. Fortunately I got back almost what I had paid for it two years previously, thanks to the engineer who inspected the wreck. Yesterday, I took the train down to Dandycars and collected my new 5, a beautiful R-Ltd with very low miles. They fitted my old hi-fi which I recovered from the wreck, and swapped the front bumper/spoiler thing which I didn’t like at all for a regular one. Then I drove to WIM for a full alignment and four new tyres, then headed back to the North-East. I had a great drive back, the new car has stock springs over the Bilsteins which makes for a vastly better ride than the Eibach “sport” springs on my old car. Horrible things. I also got to keep the hardtop from my old car, so as soon as I can afford it I’ll get it resprayed in Satellite Blue. Coincidentally, I realised yesterday that I picked the new car up two years to the day since I picked up the old one. Spooky, eh?
Hahaha! Good point well made Mr But. The only pics I have are from the website. Here it is: http://www.dandycars.com/Mazda-MX5s/property/Reserved_Cars/305341a.htm
[:D] Very nice, love the colour. Need to get some style springs on it though, it looks very high at the back… Lovely car though
I don’t want to do anything to compromise the ride though. My old car had lowered suspension and crashed and banged over the slightest surface irregularity. The new one is so much more comfortable but still handles really well.
I Know what you mean, having been in one with no suspension…[:S] the style springs only drop the ride height slightly - 20mm IIRC - and don’t compromise the ride. I’ve got them on mine. Just looks a bit better IMO.
Enjoy though…
Beautiful car, well done
I saw that car on Dandycars website a little while ago, and thought it looked good
That car looks mint…well done fella…[;)]
Really love the interior, very nice indeed [:D]
smart motor.
Thanks for the kind comments. I’m loving the car. I’d be out in it tonight but there’s ten feet of ice everywhere. It’s really, really cold in the North-East this evening.
Drive carefully in the ice and snow, rear wheel drive can easilly catch you out if you are not used to it, and its a fab looking car so look after it…[:D]
