oxygen or heat sensor?

 while under the car recently, (looking for a rattle), i noticed a wire broken off from the side of the cat. is this the oxygen sensor or heat sensor. i’ve read two manuals and they both give different names. it has snapped off of the cat so cannot go back on easily.Is this affecting the  car in any way and should i get it fixed or just invest in a de-cat pipe

It’s a heat sensor, does nothing for the car, used to tell you if the cat overheated, but that was all. Did nothing about it. Just unplug the connector and tie it up out of the way

thanks for that geoff, it hasn’t felt like it affected the running in any way so i’'ll sort it out next time i’m under there
