Does anyone know where there is a guide to painting my cam cover or where i can exchange my cam cover for one of the nice painted ones?

How about a nice shiny one instead? Now there is guides in the forums to do this.
Or
Buy a second hand one from eBay. Degrease thouroughly, spray with 6 coats of Hammerite smooth and pick out the Mazda 16Valve logo in the colour of your choice, fit with new seal and
Et voila!
Then degrease old one and sell it on eBay [:)]

I quite fancy a polished cam cover to be honest, and i’ve had a look at the engine bay spring clean faq so all i need now is the required polishing kit and a head gasket seal and i’ll be polishing. I love polishing stuff to a tee so can’t wait to have a lovely shiny alloy cam cover!

I notice that you have no heat sheild over the exhaust manifold, does this cause any issues? Is it safe to remove mine?
Hi Gary, my car didn’t have a heat shield when I bought it and I didn’t like the look of the heat stained manifold so I made a stainless steel heat shield.
