Parking tickets...any way around them?

Typical “Jobsworth” response, you meet the same everywhere, business, government, both national and local. I feel sorry for you and the other party, you’ve done what you can. Just hope it gets sorted without too much trouble for anyone.
PS: I think ladies like the council worker are known as a “Karen”, why I’m not sure.

So is your Mazda’s reg number anything
close to the Clio’s reg?
Just wondering how the parking warden got it so wrong?

How the parking attendant got it so wrong? That’s an easy one to answer, if that’s the only job you can find then you are only just one up on the ecological scale from a mushroom!!

They’re ordinary people doing a job. Some are good, some are bad, some are indifferent, just like the people in any walk of life.

My missus used to work as a civilian in a police training college.
She reckons they came in as ordinary people but once the training course was completed they were ordinary people no longer, they were steely eyed TRAFFIC WARDENS… :open_mouth:

Have you considered knocking on doors?
You can’t be the only one suffering.
Rally together, with your neighbors, knock some leaflets up, push them through letterboxes.
Lobby the council, make a nuisance of yourselfs, call them daily, get a name and badger him/her to death.

Always check the ticket carefully, often mistakes make them invalid. My local traffic warden is often getting it wrong. CEO55 of Eastleigh spent 5 minutes observing my car and writing a ticket with the wrong registration number on it. Had he got the right registration he wouldn’t have issue a ticket, phoned up the council to tell them their CEO (Car Park Enforcement Officer) got it wrong and if they look up the registration (MOT database) they’d find it was a Cleo rather than a red Mazda. So some poor driver of a Cleo has a ticket and the council wouldn’t cancel it, even after I quoted the Data Protection Act and it was their responsibility to check their data was correct. I was told as it was put on my car it was my responsibility, as soon as the penny dropped that they didn’t have my registration, I put the ticket in the bin.

On our recent visit to Wales, we parked in a pay and display car park and bought a ticket for 2 hours to tour one of the many castles.
It was a very windy day, so when I closed the driver’s door, I made sure the ticket was still on the dashboard.
However, the wind must have swirled through the tailgate, as the ticket was on the floor when we got back and there was another one on the windscreen :disappointed:.

However, in that car park, you got the first 30 minutes for free and the numpty who issued the ticket recorded that he observed the vehicle for 20 minutes and those 20 minutes were within the free half hour, as evidenced by the start time on the ticket I had purchased and the times recorded by the numpty on the parking fine ticket.
I pointed all this out in an email to the local authority and they waived the fine.
They didn’t address the sharp practice of the numpty though and I didn’t get a reply when I complained about it further.
Bar Stewards…

I hope you haven’t shot yourself in the foot here. Don’t they also take pictures of cars they have ticketed? You might yet be put to proof that you have a valid parking permit.

I fold my car up and put it in my pocket when I have finished with it, then simply reverse the process when next needed.

No I’ve got a valid residents permit, they had my plate one digit out so it showed as no permit. A photograph will only prove I was right. Worst case scenario the innocent Cleo driver has been murdered by a jealous spouse for having an affair outside my house, the incorrect ticket being the proof. Had the incorrect ticket not been a valid plate I wouldn’t have phoned the council. I thought I’d save the Cleo driver some hassle as they’ll have no idea and weren’t even there.
