Part number? Where to buy

My model of MX-5 is: RF Launch edition
I’m based near: north herts

Does anyone know where I can buy this small replacement piece of metal that interfaces with the door bushes on a mk4 RF.

Failing that anyone happen to know part number?

Try ringing here Latch, dovetail | Moss Europe | Classic Car Parts (moss-europe.co.uk) to see when they will be back in stock.

MX5Parts may be able to get them, give them a ring.

I may have the part number but I will not be able to check until tomorrow so let me know if you would like me to look.

Any Mazda Main Dealer will be able to supply them.

There are two different shapes, they appear to have changed when the ND2 came out. Yours look like the early ones. The ‘snake oil’ replacement bushes only fit the earlier type.

Same part for all generations, and also used by Hyundai/Kia.

Autolinkuk has a used part off a Mk2; it will be the same as Mk4

This shows the difference in the cups. I understand that the part number did not change when the new shape was introduced but I could be wrong.

Are you replacing it because it’s corroding? If that’s the case you can remove, clean up any rust and paint it for the cost of a can of satin black. They come up great. You can either remove them or mask and do in-situ.

Fit old dovetails to new cars. The new design has more give, which defeats the objective of the go-fast Delrin blocks that users swear transform their cars.

I’m sure the refined part has a similar number, with just a different final letter to denote its a revised part and backwards compatable.

If the OP goes to a Mazda dealer, he doesn’t need a part number, just a VIN.

US dealers selling same part number for all years:

So the difference is a European requirement.

Don’t suppose anyone can tell me what the screw size is for this fitment, went to take one out last night and damaged the screw head so need a replacement. Mazda dealer couldn’t get screws for 8 weeks :joy:

Followed your advice, had a bit of a mare getting a couple of the screws undone but the dovetails have come up beautifully with a bit of satin black

Weirdly my car has one of each on close inspection… is this normal? Was it typical one was fitted to right door and one to left as standard?

No. Just out of interest what year is your car?

2017 RF launch edition. Out of interest which is the ND2 fitting and which is the ND1?

Left is the newer one, it is more splayed. The right is the old one.

May be your car has had some repairs, did you buy it new.? Who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Perhaps someone with a new car could have a look and see what they have.

Thanks. No repairs I’m aware of, or on HPI Maybe the door rattled and a previous owner switched the part or just got built at a time when both were in circulation :man_shrugging:. Either way now I need to figure out which one was fitted to which door when putting them back on :joy:

The old fitting looks way way tighter and much better imo

The old version is a much better fit. the rubber bits are all the same so it does not matter which door you put it on. May be get a second hand older one then they will both be the same.

Final pics, replaced screws M6 x 16mm and resprayed components
