I have a 2013 PRHT and am hoping for some advice on an issue where my PAS fluid is squirting out on trackdays, particularly warm ones. It’s not the end of the world but it does make a mess and I’m a little worried about it failing.
I have so far tried higher boiling point PAS fluid, which works a bit, but not completely. I was looking for either model specific coolers or larger capacity tanks, but open to other ideas (I don’t want to delete, unless it’s the only option).
Thanks for any helpful tips.
Not sure if this is useful but I just recently replaced my PAS fluid in my Mk1. I removed the same amount as I put in with a syringe and I had mine boil over and leak during a trackday last week. I recommend to make the level slightly below half of the dip stick indicator. For reference, I used Motul synthetic PAS fluid (1L).
There are quite a few power steering coolers on the market for not a lot of money. Would involve splicing into the low pressure side of the circuit and fabricating a basic bracket or two but should help with the problem significantly.
Something like this would do it provided the hose sizes match to your application.
I didn’t know this existed. Its a good shout for those people who do trackdays regularly and want to keep PAS.
