Starting to think about changing the clutch so i thought i’d do some prelimiary wd40/bolt loosening and have found my first ‘issue’ The rear most bolt on the PPF on my mazda is very tight, 18’ breaker bar and feet aganst the wall tight! the others have come loose without any trouble. shall i just try harder[8o|] or should i be concerned about shearing the head off ? Would i be able to make enough space to remove the tranny without removing this last bolt?
thanks for your help
No it will break off, These are a known problem, they screw into a threaded collet that goes in from the top. It is possible once detached at the geargox end to push the PPF to the side sufficient to drop the gearbox. If it is being a pain best left alone. I had to take an angle grinder to mine when I swapped the diff.
