Project Gleneagles

A couple of months ago I bought this little car from a friend of mine.

My aim: If anything breaks or needs replacing it gets upgraded. One day, she’ll be the Limited Edition Mx5, Mazda dreamt of making.

She’s off for some BC Racing coilovers and PowerFlow exhaust at the weekend before her MOT at the end of the month.

Got Maggie (The car…) back from the brilliant guys at EMP Performance in St Albans.

The old exhaust had a hole in the back box so that had to go.

The suspension was old, soggy and a bit past it. Time to go a bit lower and stiffer.

First thoughts on the PowerFlow exhaust is that it’s excellent quality, the welds are spot on and the service from EMP was stunning - They had the exhaust done in about 3hours and the coilovers fitted in just 2hours more!

As for the BC Racing suspension. I love it! pure and simple.

The ride is smooth but solid. Their super easy to adjust (Both height and dampening). I don’t know how they compare to other brands but I did alot of internet research and for less than £650 I don’t think you could find many better alternatives.

I’ve only done about 100miles so far but I’ll keep you posted.

For now, here’s some photos.

psst, that green is actually blue (Montego Blue)

Stopping. it’s best if cars can do this…

unfortunately Maggie’s brakes were shot. Fortunately this meant it was time for an upgrade. Cue DBA ventilated and drilled discs with GreenStuff pads and Hel braided brake lines.

I wont lie, fitting them was a b*!ch. And the front GreenStuff pads are yet to go on as they barely fit within the caliper.

they look the part though  (Here’s a pic) and the car now stops on a dime. once they’ve bedded in I’ll give her a proper drive to see if there’s any fade.

Very smart

4 years later… still impressed with the exhaust from EMP? Am considering taking mine there for a Cat Back exhaust and looking for some reviews on it? What type of exhaust did you go for from them?
