Spotted this morning, a metallic red ND with an 05 plate.
A plate with the usual AA05 AAA pattern, not a personalized LO05 AME 
The ND was not out in 2005 - how is that possible ?
Plates can be older but not younger than the car. You can have a brand new car with a 1987 number plate but a 1987 car can only have 87 or earlier.
You can buy plates direct from the dvla or a cherished plate seller. Google cherished plates

Perhaps the individual retained the plate from a previous car?
It’s ok to fit an older plate but not one that makes the vehicle appear newer.
Maybe the three letters are that person’s initials
