Quoting people - feature I never realised

 I discovered something by accident today, which I felt was worth sharing.

You read a post, and think hmm, I (dis)agree with that point, or, I can expand on that, so you want to quote them.

But, the person has typed a small essay for their post, and you don’t want to quote all of it - so you probably press the “Quote” button, and then edit out the stuff you don’t want.

BUT, there is no need to do that;

When you are on the ‘post a reply’ page, and the other person’s post is in the grey(ish) box, highlight the text you want, and then click quote - it will only quote the highlighted text. [:D]

Give it a try - you know you want to [:D]

(Or am I the only person that didn’t know that!)

ooh nice one, never knew you could do that. Thanks a lot[:D]

Blimey, he’s right!!! [:D]

I didn’t know either…Ramsay you need to get out more[;)]

Does it always put the new text before the quote, or is this only a Firefox feature?

G’day Goof

You highlight the text, click quote and your comments follow on

 well i never,  at this rate = i might apply for a job in   I T   THANKS FOR THAT  [;)]

Mine defaults to top of text entry with quote below…

Have to go to end manually to get quote above new text.

Haven’t tried IE yet, but FireFox 3.0.7 does it this way if you don’t manually change cursor position.

Other than that it’s a bloody useful tip!
