Very sad news today is the death of Dennis Waterman being announced… Who didn’t love some of The Sweeney and Minder?!..

‘The Sweeney’ was really good. Way ahead of its time when it came out. What a double act with John Thaw. I first saw him in '68 or '69 in the film ‘Up The Junction’ which was about the young working class in seedy South London in the swinging 60s. He was excellent in that. Only a couple of years older than me, and I lived in quite a rough area of London in the early 70s so he was a kindred spirit with the parts he played. RIP.
Good in New Tricks as well.
Cannot recall him being average in anything.

The Sweeny was a great program. Big Granada’s chasing the Jags before the obligatory punch up at the end👍🏻
