Hi,
I have a small section of bubbling on the rear sill section of my '97 Mx-5.
I plan on sanding the sill down and treating it with hammerite.
Firstly, does anyone know if the car fail its MOT if i use a small amount of filler to smooth over the surface of the sill?
Secondly, does anyone know how I can find out what the paint code is for my sill (it is black btw).
Many thanks
Adam
Be careful…
The rot tends to be from the inside out due to water inside the sills from blocked drains.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, useful info to know. What about matching the paint, do you know the best way to get a nice match?
Thanks
Not really. If it is the matt black paint on the sill it may be a case of re-painting the whole length in matt black.
I hope the rot is not too bad for you. Sometimes you just have to be a bit ruthless and attack the rot.
When they MOT they will tap around with a small hammer and know what to look/listen for, so filler may not get you through.
