Recording TV prog.

I am finding that on some  programmes on TV, that I set to record, are starting to record earlier than the time stated and then when watching the programme the recording ends before the programme is finished thereby we are not knowing what the end of the story was. Sometimes the recording will start late and then we miss the start of a programme. Does this happen to other people or is it something that I am doing wrong?  I regularly retune when there are any updates available. Is there a way that I can sort this problem out?

Any help would be appreciated.

What format are you watching tv on

i used freeview and found the guide was not always great doing exactly as you described sometimes

ive since switched too a freesat humax box and its first class never misses programes out and does series link recording too .

I too have a Humax Freesat box,and am very pleased with it,I never have to retune as it does it itself

Also I don’t have to give Sky any money!!

Clock on recorder may be at the wrong time

The fact you are retuning means I can assume you are on Freeview and not Freesat.

I have both a Freeview Humax (Fox T2) and a Freesat Humax (HDR 1000S).  Both work well and track changing program times and series etc.

In 2016 I also supplied a very fussy old lady with a Freeview Humax (FVP 4000T) and after the initial problems of remembering which remote and on/off buttons to use between TV and Humax and Blu-ray, she has been totally happy with it (touch wood.)  She was only too happy to see the end of her old Panasonic recorder which usually did not track program timing changes.

However, if the Broadcaster changes the start and finish times in the hope of making sure you watch the ads at the beginning (eg with Ch4 group and Pick) then the box can only follow what it has been told.  The more professional channels such as BBC ITV and the Ch5 group usually seem to be more dependable.  I do a lot of time shifting and rarely notice any missing bits of program on either machine, except with Pick and the current NCIS LA season 5.

Most likely totally different in the way they operate but my Virgin Tivo box has the facility to add or remove minutes at the start and end of recordings. Does your box?

Hi Pollyanna,

If you press the MENU button on your remote, then select SETTINGS using the up and down button, either press the OK button or use the RIGHT button.

Under PREFERENCES select RECORDING

Once in there, you can select START & END PADDING TIME.

Hopefully this should resolve your issue
