Did consider a different colour, I’ve painted calipers in the past and Hammerite smooth is great. But on the MX5 I’ve stuck with standard silver in a desire to keep it as standard looking as possible.

I like the rocker covers they look tidy, and under body braces, they are functional. I just think painting ■■■■ calipers red makes you look a bit desperate.

When members talk about Brembo brakes fitting does that actually make there car any safer? I’m talking about the real brakes, not the covers?

For everyday use, the standard brakes are sufficient (if kept in good condition), therefore an increase in brake power (which is arguably what Brembo brakes give), will make little difference. The limiting factor will become the ability of the tyres not to skid as there is a limit to the adhesion of the tyre on the road. However if you go on a track, normal brakes will overheat and lose effectiveness quickly and Brembo brakes will limit this. Also if you increase performance, you can go faster quicker and the standard brakes will limit your ability to slow down sufficiently. However you also need to look at different suspension/tyres etc.

As far as safer is concerned, I would say it depends on lots of factors, including how you drive. But new standard disks and pads should be perfectly safe in all but extreme circumstances…

Cannot recall over many years of any standard Mx5 brakes being accused of being fadey or “unsafe”. Might have happened…I’ ve simply never seen it.
Never the less, I can savvy upgrading for cars with forced induction modified to double the intended BHP and /or track dogs. Not good to have an engine quicker than the chassis.
I’d imagine the Jag V6 conversions would be a more pleasant experience with “better” brakes…given circa 240 plus BHP on tap but equally I know of 1 such in Ireland which does fine on OEM with upgraded pads.

On a road car little difference, but the larger diameter disks and multi piston calipers allow not only for longer and harder use without fade, but much finer modulation, so you can work the tyres a lot harder before they lock up, and recover from a lock up with less let up. You will reduce tour stopping distance even tho the tyres are the same. Mono block alloy calipers also save you a fair bit of weight, unsprung weight at that, so you’re suspension will keep the rubber on the road for more of the time. Again reducing stopping distance.
