 Sorry guys/girls I do feel that there is a lot of garbage talked about supermarket vs branded filling staion fuel quality!  There are strict, legally enforced quality standards and specifications attached to the supply of vehicle fuels in the UK and no responsible supermarket/independant supplier would risk flouting these!  If you get the time park outside any fuel distribution depo (there are 4 near where I lived) and you will see tankers signed by pretty well all suppliers filling from the same bulk dispenser!  Sure if it gives you a warm feeling to pay over the top for an alledged better product then go ahead but don’t kid yourself  that you MX will notice the difference.  As far as fuel tank additiives are concerned better give the money to a local charity - it will do more good!

 

Certainly there are standards, but the premium fuels exceed them.  There are more additives in premium fuels which keep the injectors clean.  Of course all tankers fill from the same outlet, the addititives are extra.  Apart from injectors look at an EGR valve from a diesel car which has been run without something like Millers dieselclean, they are choked with carbon, as are the backs of the inlet valves. I know from experience that premium fuel improves the M.P.G. on my car by around 8%.
