Remote central locking

Does such a thing exist as a manufacturer fit for mk 2.5? My 2001/51 plate doesn’t have it and I wondered if it would be possible to retro-fit a genuine Mazda system?

As an aside, I couldn’t find a search function for the forums… is there one?

Mazda don’t offer a factory upgrade for remote central locking. They used to offer fitment of a Cobra alarm which incorprated keyless entry but I don’t know if it is still available. There is a possibility that you could buy the extra parts that are fitted to a Sport that had keyless from the factory but I don’t know what the cost would be and if you car would be wired for it. I don’t think anyone has reported upgrading using OE stuff so I suspect it’s not viable. I recokon the easiest & most cost effective answer would be to buy and fit or get fitted a generic remote central locking kit.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll probably leave it for the moment. It’s the absence of a few things like remote locking and fuel-gauge warning light that remind you you’re essentially driving an early/mid-80s design!

Why not fit an after-market remote c/l system? - I posted a detailed install I did to mine on the old (proper [;)]) forum - not sure if it’s been copied here as a “How do I” type thing…

It’s in the faqs--------------------

I could ask for it as Partya birthday present !!!
