My M Reg Mk 1 bodywork is still in showeroom condition but the original wheels that I had restored 2 years ago are in need of refurbishment and the tyres need replaced. I have just started to look at the options and I can get 4 17 inch Team Dynamic alloys plus 205 40 17 tyres for just under £400. If I go down this route do I need to do anything else or do you think that I should I stick with the original 15 inch wheel size.
I would welcome the members advice.

I have just bought a set of 17 inch to replace my standard 15 inch. I am getting them fitted on Friday.They are being fitted to my 2.5. In my opinion 17 look better as they fill the arch better. I will let you know how I get on.
15x7 seems to be the wheel size of choice for best handling on Mk1’s and by all accounts the weight and offset play heavily in this if handling is high on your list of considerations.
Out of interest where are you getting dynamics+ tyres for that price and do they do 15’s?
I’m in the market for new wheels/tyres myself.
