I love our car Tom but am increasingly drawn to a Mk1 if I can find a really good one. I guess I’m just from that era pre electronic - mechanical preferably - but could cope with Mk1. Love Mariner Blue or Red or Green, we will see, it’s rust I have a hate for Smile

I think most are just pointing out that you could hit problems and are just thinking of the best for you, and not down to doom and gloom but if you want to do it ,then do it, it is your money, life and roadster, Tom just wanted answers not shot at dawn for wanting it for his way of enjoying and driving, you are not the first to do this mod and i am sure by far not the last, i have done this to many roadsters, and it is the owners choice and to know the risks and what the insurance could say , but i am sure Tom as done is home work on this before going forward with his plan, at 65 years young i am sure he is not wet behind the ears, and knows what he wants.

Just enjoy Tom.

No gloom and doom here buddy just honest opinionsThumbs up

Thanks M-m, I know that or I wouldn’t be here. I was a mechanic/auto electrician starting in 1961 until about 1988 when I moved on to other things.

Cars used to be simple AND repairable, we used to mend things like altenators & starter motors in those days, I like my Mk1 because it feels like a sports car, my Mk2 isn’t like that. I have been around the block a bit with cars but don’t like modern ones at all if I’m honest. My family car is a 2.0 five cylinder Volvo S60 turbo from 2007, great car but I don’t use it much because it’s soulless (SP?) but very efficient.

Thanks guysBig Smile

PS where’s my clock?
