Retro wheels

You can get lots of sporty aftermarket alloys but I was thinking it would be cool if I could enhance my Mk1’s retro look with wheels like the ones on the Lotus Elan - steel wheels with spinners.

Or if you could get Rostyle wheels to fit the MX5…

wheel

or is it just me…

I agree 100% - I am currently running the standard BBS wheels which do look retro but I want a minilite or deeper dish look while keeping it as retro as poss.

From what I have found searching - there are lots of options looks like the more retro you go though the higher the cost (worst luck)

Rota Flashbacks are nice - think they come in Black centre or Gold Centre [Y]

If it’s the Elan look you are after then these wheels were/are available in Japan…

Together with this body kit…

Available from www.zoom-eng.com

I have one of those centre exit exhausts in my garage! I might put it on for the summer now I’ve remembered I have it…

This was exactly what I was thinking - great reply… you don’t know where you can get those wheels do you?

They don’t seem to be on zoom-eng.com - just the other bits.

Cheers

Mark

what are the wheels on that zoom elan car above?

They look like Panasports

As for steel wheels, wheels from other cars may fit (besides the MX5 steel wheel); 4-stud Golf, Vauxhall, Honda.

A very good list of standard fitments:

http://www.carlsalter.com/wheel_fitments.html

Its slightly inaccurate for MX5s; the bore size is 54.1mm not 64.1mm.

So wheels from: Honda Civic, Hyundai Getz, Kia Shuma, 323, Rover 200/400, VW/Seat, Skoda Felicia, Corolla, Astra/Cavalier,

Have you tried to locate some standard early MX-5 steel wheels any where. The wheels on the Zoom are very similar to Minilite wheels.

Try these links  http://www.revolutionwheels.com/minator/  or http://www.superlite-wheels.com/

Finally found what I was after, ordered them and they’ve arrived - black minators (special order) - was trying to get that 60s racer look, which I think these do - usually fitted to Caterhams… now i’ve just got to fit the Black and wood Nardi Classico and i’m there…

MX5 wheels

I know they are not the same wheels, but from a quick glance it’s like a mirror image !!!

Great minds think alike! they look great…
