Road trip ...Yorkshire to Scotland ( picture heavy )

Hi
One of the lads from work has semi organised a road trip for us ( 3 lads , 3 mx5 ‘s )
We leave sunny Barnsley on Wednesday heading through the Lakes to a caravan in Ballantrae in Scotland for 2 nights.

My question is , does anyone know any good roads around that area ,
Looking to sort a little trip on the second day , maybe 200 to 300 round trip ???

Thanks in advance

This may be further than you were thinking, to the Jim Clark Museum in Duns, would be a great trip though:

Ian pretty much beat me to it Bally.
One issue with the Dumfrieshire area is it’s heavy duty farming with vehicles holding you up.
However, as Ian has displayed you’d do a lot, lot worse than give the excellent roads ( very rural) to Duns a blast. Mx5 heaven. Lots of red-line straights & plenty twisties. The Museum is fantastic. Deeply thought provoking. Recommended.

Thanks guys ,
It maybe too far ,but we could go 3 or 4 hrs find pub grub then set off back to accommodation ( see caravan :rofl::rofl: )
:+1:t3::+1:t3:

If you can do the a708 from Moffat to Selkirk it is an incredible experience and well worth it. One of the best sat nav diversions i’ve ever done and surely one of Scotlands best driving roads. Videos of it on youtube.

Well day 1 was an adventure
Set off from Barnsley at noon

From north of Skipton it absolutely pi$$ed it down.
Called in Keswick for a dinner then set off for Ballantrae.
More and more torrential rain :umbrella:
Roads flooded , police :policewoman: road blocks, 50 miles detours.
But we are here now , 9 hours later :confounded::confounded::confounded:

As long as you got there safely is the most important thing. Hope things improved for you all after that .

Looking good! Now you can start to appreciate why as nice as Yorkshire is it doesn’t quite match up to Scotland

Tea’s better though! :joy:

Wonderful photos, and loving your little convoy . Mx5’s look like they’re having a fabulous little holiday, I hope you did too

Ailsa Craig in the background of couple of photos there.
One pic , with the semi-lighthouse on the end of pier… looks a little
like Port Logan down near the Mull of Galloway, where they filmed 2000 Acres of Sky.

Hi, a few of us from Eastern Region leave tomorrow for a North Yorkshire / Dumfries & Galloway trip. Looks like the weather wont be much better than you have had but looking forward to the scenery and (distant) socialising!
