Morning,
I have a 92 Eunos and was thinking about fitting a roll bar. Does anyone have any advice, tip, suggestions, etc?
I’m not planning on tracking the car (yet), but I’m 6’2" and feel a bit exposed sometimes.

Do you mean a roll cage or a style bar? The latter will not help in the event of the car flipping.
I was thinking something along the lines of the ones from TR Lane, probably one of the simpler ones as it just for road use.
Easy enough to fit and look good.
This is mine from 5 Race Bar. Bolts to the seat belt turrets and then to the floor behind the seats. Solid and secure and far safer than a style bar.
Not a chance that I would fit a style bar, they look like they would cause more damage than having nothing there at all.
How much does your one cost? I was thinking about the T R Lane GP Roll Bar without the cross bracing as I use the parcel shelf for storage on road trips. It may be worth noting that I have a hard top on 99% of the time.
btw nice interior
Does anyone have any recommendations for padding? I know that you should use proper cage padding, but any advice on types/manufacturers would be great.
£250.00 inc postage. Can be used with a hard top.
Just a quick question please, sorry to hijack this post
I am looking to get a roll bar fitted so I can track-day later this year & on a few posts they have mentioned the bar must be padded?
Does anyone have any advice on this issue, as I don’t fancy cracking my head on the roll bar, if, for example I am involved in a road accident rear-end shunt driving it off track?? I am 6’2" and my head is already at the top of the seat bolster…
Obviously on track I will be wearing a crash helmet - but I know from Caterham Academy cars I have built which have full roll cages, that they insist on roll-cage padding or they won’t clear scrutineering?
Cheers.
I asked this question before, so if anyone has any advice it would be great to know.
I’m just using mine for road use, so I won’t be wearing a helmet at all. Plus I’m also 6’2" and have a Eunos with the original seats so my head clears the head rest by quite a way. Padding will be essential.

(Centre Pic.) More essential with cages IMHO.
My opinion, good roll bars fit behind the seat and are braced back to the deck, which means chopping holes in the Tank cover - and the carpet. Not a problem except for some sweat and hard work. I have a ‘Hard Dog’ deuce bar, which is built like a Sherman tank - the car will give way before the bar does. Hard Dog also produce bars which are covered by the SCA’s approval - mine doesn’t, but I prefered the looks to an approved bar. They aren’t cheap, mine cost around £435, but I fitted it myself. Probably too expensive for most, but it gave me lots of reassurance against roll overs for road use, having had a couple of scares as most of us do. It also braces the car better, though some say that’s a placebo effect.
Rear enders crumple the boot, and yes, your head may go backwards, but it’s highly unlikely you’ll hit your head on the bar unless you are rolling at the same time. The Mk2.5 has exceptionally high seat backs, but I didn’t want to rely on that to protect my head, more concerned about protecting the seat from collapse, which would affect my head, but then I’m only 5`- 8". Certainly you can’t rely on the windscreen header to protect you, so a roll bar is essential.
That’s me ordered a TR Lane roll bar and some OMP FIA Approved Roll Bar Padding. Hopefully shouldn’t be too hard to fit, my experience has been that it’s harder to get things off my car than put new ones on so fingers crossed.
Thanks for the help.
Good luck with fitting - please let me know how you get on. I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to mods - so will need to get it fitted by a local specialist (Doctor MX5 or Skuzzle seem to be at the top of the list at the moment!).
