Roof Alarm Bleeping. Help me please

I really hope they can sort it for you and it’s nothing too complicated (read expensive lol) :crossed_fingers: Look forward to hearing the outcome, I’m intrigued!

The guys roof is working, He justs needs to get rid of the warning stuff. It’s not perfect but that would be an alternative solution? Kill the warning stuff. It’s not a solution: but it’s just making the car unusable.
Make it drivable. It needs to be a car

Did you also spray the other two micro switches that I mentioned last night?

With the deck open and roof down, stand on the drivers side of the car and look below the roof and rear glass towards the B pillar area. You should spot the other two switches that do the roof travel. Got to be worth a try!

No I did not. I will give that a try tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder.

I would be OK with that just to make driving to work and back a bit more tolerable. How would I kill the warning stuff?

I think the warning stuff is there to serve a purpose, it tells you that something is not working properly and needs attention. Even if there was a way to disable the alarm, what’s to say that you won’t find yourself in a situation down the line where this turned out to have been indicative of a developing fault which just gets worse over time? I wouldn’t fancy finding myself suddenly in a situation where the roof will no longer operate, potentially stuck open and the weather is about to turn ugly.

Of course that’s a worst-case scenario, but the point stands - surely it’s wiser to address this now before it develops into something more serious? At least that’s how I would approach this, but of course you may choose otherwise with no judgement from me. It just seems a bit like removing the batteries from a smoke alarm while hoping the smoke that triggered it is nothing more than burnt toast.

Have you resolved this yet? There’s a reasonable chance that it might be related to the roof issues, and I’d personally be reluctant to get the dealers involved until this has been fixed (or at least the fault found).

The boot release not working will be consequential of the roof fault. The car thinks that the rear deck is open so won’t release the boot. Fix the rear deck issue and the boot release will work.

Just thinking about your beeping problem and boot release button, have you detected any damp or moisture in the passenger foot well or water in the fuse box in the passenger side kick panel?
You may have read that a leaking grommet behind/above the fuse box can allow water into this fuse box and cause all sorts of electrical gremlins!

No idea, it’s just an alternative to the actual fix. My PRHT roof has had its moments, but it mostly behaves itself. If you could turn off the alarm that makes the car very irritating to drive you then have a space to fix the actual problem.
My rational for this is suppose your halfway through a continent holiday what would you do of the following: 1…destroy the cheapo buzzer that will haunt the car for rest of the trip or 2 …. fix the base problem two thousand miles from home and may take up the rest of your holiday. Am I right or am I right?

Hi guys,

Popped into my local Mazda repair centre today, explain the problem. It’s booked in for Thursday this week.

They said first thing to do was running through their diagnostics, see if anything comes back on that. If diagnostics doesn’t show up any problems, it’s old school fault finding LOL.

I will let you know how I get on

No water damage or rust. Super clean and tidy car to be fair.

Have you removed the plug on the control unit behind the passenger seat and cleaned the connections?

Yes I have multiple times just to be sure I’ve also blew them out with compressed air.

Thanks for the help. It’s booked in tomorrow at Mazda repair. Let’s see what the results are.

Hi guys,

Just got back from Mazda Repair Centre. All fixed, works as it should also boot catch Works. Diagnostics came up with error code B293C /B294F. This is deck Motor/Speed out of balance. They adjusted and all seems fine. Cost £144.00.

Just wanna thank everybody that got involved in this post. Thank you so very much.

My beast is back
