I wouldn’t without seeing it in the flesh, knowing how much they are asking and doing an MOT check etc etc.

The car has done 34k miles, passed all MoTs without any advisories. Price is £9.5k which is competitive according to Auto Trader. I wouldn’t buy without seeing it, just trying to avoid a wasted 250 mile round trip.
Mr Roddison in Sheffield (not a million miles away from you) has or had an ND for sale for £10k.
I bought my NC off him, well respected business but he doesn’t advertise much the cars he sells.

I would give Paul Roddison a call 0114 244 5300, he had a nice Mk4 for sale when I was in there last week. Only a train ride from Leeds to Meadowhall and walk across to Paul’s place.

Tempted but a few other must buys have cropped up for me just lately and I’m still enjoying my NC for now.
I’ve driven that ND / Mk4!
Nice car and good price, but I just prefer the Mk3.

You’re looking at normal MX5s with the normal lack of underseal and very mild surface rust.
They’re all projects of some scale so you either accept that or If you want something other than that then look in the more specialised places.

For what it’s worth, here are some photos of my NC before and after having it undersealed:
It was first registered in 2011, and has spent all of its life in Scotland. Considering Mazda didn’t really apply any underseal at all, I think it’s unlikely you’ll find a MX-5 without any rust. Unless you’re lucky and find one that’s been really cared for by an enthusiastic owner! I’ve only had my NC for a few months, but getting it undersealed was the first thing I had done.

Sorry to jump in at this late stage. Looking at Tugboat’s comprehensive underseal. Can you please tel me where you got it done? one is booked at MX5Restorer. Do you know if it would be usual (and should I expect) to take the bumpers off for the sealing work? Thank you.
Depends what you were quoted. If its underseal underneath the car they wont take bumpers off.
In that case I’ll ask that they do them 
They are respraying my front bumper and while it’s off, stripping back and repainting the slam panel for me.

I got mine undersealed at Preserve & Protect in Johnstone, which I’m assuming is far from you if you’re booked in at MX-5 Restorer!

I’m only about 30 miles north of MX5Restorer. I think they’ll be good. I just need to ask for specifics like behind bumpers etc. Also getting a service done and maybe some suspension attention.
