This may not be new to all you long term MX5 owners out there, but in my researches in deciding what to buy (now have a 2011 mk3 “Kendo”), I came across a YouTube channel called, I admit strangely, “savagegeese”. It is addictive and has an excellent series on the history of the MX5 with a programme devoted to each model, including interviews with members of the design teams. Fascinating stuff, in my opinion.
