Dear All,
Today’s Scatter Drive went off very well indeed. We were blessed with fine weather but it did try to rain a couple of times but nothing to dampen our spirits and make us put the roof up, on the way round the Hampshire Contryside.
Only six cars undertook the drive but everyone enjoyed the driving through the villages and country Lanes, even if some did not manage to find one of the main checkpoints. Sadly, our overheating problem has not dissapeared, so having failed to find Checkpoint A, Serena and I decided to call it a day and make our way to The Potters Heron and wait for the others there.
So, in summary, we were the first MX5 back but it was not long before David and Linda turned up in their “Ceramic Mk4”. followed by Phil & Sally in their Mk3, closely followed by Terry & Diane.
The Scatter Drive Marshalls (Chris & Richard) collected in the question sheets and worked out the final scores and in reverse order, they were;
In 3rd Place: Terry & Diane
In 2nd Place: Phil & Lisa
In 1st Place: David & Linda
David & Linda, who already own a stunning MK4, then kindly offered the prize of 2 days in a Mk4, with a full tank of fuel, courtesy of Hendy Mazda at Chandlers Ford to be passed to the next winning car, which was Phil & Lisa, as they had found both Checkpoints and answered the most questions correctly and also met the stringent time criteria for winning the scatter drive, in the Marshalls opinion’s.
David and Linda were thanked for their generisity and Phil and Lisa were absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to drive a Mk4 for a couple of days. Lisa is even more pleased…as if Phil likes it, she is hoping he will buy one and she can have his Mk3
Well done to Phil & Lisa and enjoy your MX4 ND driving experience. We will have to wait and see if Lisa gets her wish
Finally, a big thank you must go to Chris and Richard for kindly oragnising this Scatter Drive, which was a new experience for many but one that was enjoyed. To this end, Chris and Richard have said they will be happy to do another scatter drive in August 2017, so you will need to watch the Solent Programme for details on this, as 2017 is starting to fill up already and it is hoped to have this programme published for the begining of 2017.
