Has anyone fitted the non-cable type electric window kit to a Mk1, identical to the A1 kit:
I have this installed in the passenger side of my Roadster, fitted by a previous owner, so I have no installation paperwork. Lately, it has been giving me problems in raising the window (very slow, needs help). I wanted to remove it from the door, and give it an overhaul (expacting some sort of lubrication operation.
Unlike the cable-type kits (factory etc), it seems (but can’t be) impossible to remove from the door in the same way as other kits, since it is a rigid system. Any clues as to remove?
The metal tubes you see are actually C-sections, and hence one side is open to the elements/ There is screw gear to raise, lower the window. The blue tube is a flexible line of PVC, into which the screw gear retracts. Around the screw gear (on the screw gear) is nylon brushing; there is signs of rust on this, indicating the problem. For now, I have used liberal amounts of 3-in-1 and spray grease to get it all moving, not sure this is the right approach (whether the brushing indicates it is designed to be a grease-less system). Any hints, tips appreciated.
